Good Origin
In the autumn of 2006, Douwe Egberts will introduce Good Origin, a 100% certified sustainably produced coffee. The introduction of Good Origin is a prime example of Douwe Egberts’ commitment to the future of the coffee sector, especially the mainstream coffee market (90% of the total coffee market). All players in this sector must work together in order to develop solutions, from the farmers to the coffee roasters.
Good Origin is a UTZ certified coffee blend
Douwe Egberts has participated in this initiative since 2004. UTZ CERTIFIED is an international non-profit organisation based in the Netherlands. Its code of conduct specifies criteria for socially, ecologically and economically sustainable coffee production. The organisation seeks to bring about sustainability throughout the entire coffee market.

It goes without saying that Good Origin is of the same high quality consumers have come to expect from Douwe Egberts. It can be enjoyed without milk or sugar, or in the form of a cappuccino, espresso or other coffee variety. The full, rich Good Origin blend is made of UTZ certified coffee – both Robusta and Arabica beans – from various countries. The specialists at Douwe Egberts expertly blend the various beans to achieve a consistent taste and quality. Good Origin is available for all Douwe Egberts coffee systems.
Good Origin to replace Coffee Alliance
Good Origin will come to replace Coffee Alliance. The coffee for this product was grown by small coffee farmers participating in DE Foundation projects. Douwe Egberts will continue its coffee projects in order to provide small farmers access to the global market for quality and sustainability. The coffee from these projects – most them are now UTZ certified – is used in Good Origin and other products.

Uniquely, the origins of all Good Origin coffee can be traced right back to the plantation where it was grown. Click here to try our special coffee tracer.
