UTZ CERTIFIED is a non-profit organisation based in the Netherlands.
Its code of conduct specifies criteria for socially, ecologically and economically sustainable coffee production. Each year, Douwe Egberts purchases a larger share of its coffee from sustainably producing organisations of farmers. Until now, UTZ certified coffee was blended with other coffee types, and had not been available as a product in its own right. The introduction of Good Origin marks the launch of Douwe Egberts’ very own 100% certified coffee label.
Douwe Egberts chooses to work with UTZ CERTIFIED due to the fact that this organisation focuses on the mainstream coffee market (90% of the total coffee market).
